I did work on the Sabre and the Stingray models with Leo Fender the stingray proved to be more popular. Many players love that model. The magnets on the pickups were strong and the model with two pickups ad tuning and buzzing problems because the magnets pulled on the strings. One of the things that I recommended to Leo was to reduce the magnetic pull. He later came out with he pickups that were used on the G&L that had adjustable pole pieces. This solved the problem by then the sabre was discontinued. Thursday, July 03, 2003 5:29 PM 私はレオ・フェンダーと一緒にセイバーとスティングレイの開発に取り組んでいました。その後、スティングレイの方ががいっそう人気がある事が判明し、多くのプレイヤーが愛用してくれていました。 ピックアップのマグネットには磁力が大変に強い物を使用していましたので（ノイズを減らす為にコイルは最小限で巻き、代わりにマグネットに強力な物を使用してパワーを稼いでいた）２ピックアップモデルのセイバーでは、弦がピックアップに強力に引っ張られてしまい、バズが発生し、さらにチューニングにも問題が出てしまいました。 私がレオに薦めていた事の一つは、“ピックアップの磁力を減らしましょう”という事で、本来はそうするはずだったのです。 彼は後にG&L社でピックアップのポールピース自体が上げ下げ可能なピックアップを発表しました。 この事によって、それまでセイバーが製造中止になっていた問題がようやく解かれたんです。 ジョン・カラザース
